What We’re Watching: The Sarah Silverman Program

2 03 2007

THURSDAYS ON COMEDY CENTRAL, 10:30/9:30c

In a sitcom world saturated with way too many male comics and cheesy punch lines, Sarah Silverman is a breath of foul-mouthed air. The show follows a fictional Silverman through a “typical” day in her life. Typical defined as: 1. entering a random foster kid in a children’s beauty pageant Silverman desperately wants to enter, but is obviously too old for, 2. battling the queefing ghost of her homeless friend’s mother. But when you strip away all the fart jokes and narcissism, you’re left with warm, fuzzy banter between Silverman, her dorky gay neighbors, a police officer, and her sister (played by real life sister Laura Silverman), sitting around a coffee table, talking about nothing. Not in a Seinfeld way, but in a Silverman way.
